Hearing aids & honest price bands
A hearing aid is a treatment, not a product. We recommend one only when your hearing test shows you need it — and we will tell you when a simpler device is enough.
The honest answer about price
There is no single "hearing-aid price", and any clinic that posts one number is simplifying something that does not simplify. ``
The right device depends on four things:
- your hearing loss — its pattern and degree;
- your daily life — conversation in noise, the phone, meetings, family gatherings, television;
- your needs — discretion, rechargeability, connectivity;
- your budget — and what you are comfortable spending.
Manufacturers also revise prices and replace models several times a year, so a fixed public price is quickly out of date.
What we can give you is the honest band your hearing is likely to fall into, and the reason why.
Price bands
Devices here range from the entry level to high-end, depending on need. The full span is wide, and it is wide for a reason.
| Band | Approximate range | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | `` | Straightforward hearing loss; a clear, simple fit. |
| Mid | Included within the overall range; the mainstream band most people need | Everyday conversation, some noise, the phone. |
We will tell you which band fits your test, and why. We will not begin at the top of the range and work down.
Two brands, deliberately
We dispense Signia and Oticon. ``
We could carry more brands — dealers are willing — but we keep the portfolio deliberately small. A short list is easier to know well, and it keeps the choice about your hearing rather than about shelf space.
During a trial we do not insist on a particular brand. Comfort, hearing benefit and clinical suitability decide. If one brand suits you better than another, that is the one we will recommend.
``
What a device can and cannot do
It will help you hear better. A correctly fitted hearing aid makes speech clearer in the situations you told us about, and it usually makes daily life easier.
It will not give you back the hearing you had at twenty. It amplifies and clarifies; it does not restore. We would rather set that expectation now than have you disappointed later.
It usually takes a little getting used to. The brain re-learns how to use the sound. We adjust as you go — that is what fitting and aftercare are for.
We do not promise outcomes we cannot control, and we do not use fear to hurry you. ``
You will not be pushed
This is the part most families are actually asking about, so we will answer it directly.
- No commission decides your recommendation. The test decides.
- No "today only" price. There isn't one.
- No obligation to buy at the appointment. Take the recommendation home. Look it up. Ask your doctor.
- Sometimes we recommend no device, or the cheaper one. That is a normal outcome here, not a lost sale.
``
If cost is a real constraint
If affordability is genuinely the issue, tell us. There is more than one way to get this done:
- start with the band that is enough for now, rather than the maximum;
- begin with one aid if only one ear needs it;
- discuss the options openly.
We are willing to look at reasonable, tangible ways to help a family. What we will not do is run a permanent discount war — because the cost of that is usually paid in the quality of the recommendation.
We do not offer EMI or instalments at present. `` If that changes, it will be stated here.
The next step is the test, not a purchase
You cannot choose a hearing aid sensibly before your hearing has been measured. So the next step is the same as the first: a hearing test.
- Primary: Request a callback — if you want to talk through cost or options first.
